Most photographers in the wedding industry advise having an engagement photo session with the photographer you’ve chosen for your big day. While it isn’t always possible because of schedules and locations, it’s a great way to get to know each other, work together, and learn preferences and poses that will carry over to your wedding. But now what are you supposed to do with all of those fabulous photos? Glad you asked! Here are seven ways you can put those awesome images to use:
1. Save the Dates
This might be the first thing that came to mind. Save the Date cards are probably the most popular reason to have an engagement session and for good reason: It allows you to personalize the way you’ll get onto everyone’s calendar. This is the time to get really creative with props to let the world know when your big day will be!
Some people bypass Save the Date cards and send only traditional invites, and you can definitely use your engagement photos for that as well. There are many different parts to a wedding invitation suite, from the invitation itself to the RSVP cards, menu selection cards, directions and hotel lists, even to the stamps and envelopes. There are dozens of ways you can use your engagement pictures to give your wedding invitation a personal touch.
3. Wedding Website and Social Media Images
We highly recommend having a wedding website as an online place to send family and friends looking for more information. Many wedding planning sites offer a page (at no charge) that looks great on both desktops and mobile devices. Your photos will display beautifully and give you an added location to show them off.
Of course, another way to use your photos - which you’ve probably already thought of - is on your social media. What better way to let everyone know you’re tying the knot than with your stunning engagement photos!
4. Photos for Your Home
We are big fans of getting photos off of phones and onto walls. Having digital files of photos is awesome for sharing and posting, but what we like about large prints on walls is that they’re enjoyed every time you enter the room. It’s an awesome way to decorate your new home.
5. Displaying at Your Wedding
Before hanging the photos up at your home, let them go on display at your wedding! Yes, your guests might have already seen some of the photos on your wedding website or Instagram, but seeing a print in person is much more impressive.
6. Guest Book
This is a fun way to show off your photos and get everyone to sign and comment at the same time. Creating a one-of-a-kind guest book is a great way to display your photos. Some couples include the story of how they met, what their first day was like, or how they fell in love.
7. Photo Montage for Reception or Rehearsal Dinner
With apps and free programs available now, it’s easier than ever to have a slideshow playing for your guests at the rehearsal dinner or reception. It’s a great way to get them talking, and it adds a little sentimental value as they see photos from your dates and holidays. Why not include a few of your professional engagement photos?
Your engagement photography session is a fun way to get images to enjoy both now and also for a lifetime!
